Ashanti debuted a new, er, hair style last weekend. I guess this is the modified version of the "shave one side of your head" look every one is going crazy for these days.
I have to know. Was Ashanti

Fab or Drab: Cassie at "The September Issue" Premier
It's Friday, so I figured we'd end the week with a rousing game of Fab or Drab! If you haven't heard about the highly anticipated documentary "The September Issue", you must have been living under a fashion rock these last several months!

Fab or Drab: Michelle Obama Debuts A New 'Do
For months fashion and beauty insiders have been lamenting about how they wish the First Lady would experiment more with her hair. Last week they finally got their wish.
Mrs. O debuted a shorter style at a White House Reception for country music artists. But don't be fooled. The First Lady didn't take a pair of scissors to those glamorous locks. Instead, her hairstylist Johnny Wright gave her a "tuck up". Wright dished on the hairstyle to Urban Beauty Collective:
"There are two things I do. The up-tuck, like you are tucking something in. Then I do a tuck-up. The up-tuck is when I position a small ponytail somewhere on the head, and then . . . a tuck-up is when I take the hair and gather it all in the back and I twist it and I pull up and tuck."He said he told the first lady "that this would be a nice length for her whenever we decide to cut it, and she said yeah. So now, whenever we do cut it, I'll probably go shorter now because everyone thinks that's the cut!"
Sounds like the First Lady may be in the market for a short, sassy cut soon!
So, what do we think? Is it Fab or Drab?

Fab or Drab: Victoria Rowell and Keri Hilson
It's been a while since we've had a Fab or Drab face off, so take a look at the divas below and tell me who was Fab and who was Drab!

FAB or DRAB: CFDA Awards
Last night the Council of Fashion Designers of America held its annual award ceremony in NYC, and everyone who's hot in fashion turned out. A few brown beauties turned up as well to hobnob with fashion's elite. Let's take a look!

Former model and Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi looked glowey and gorgous. This is a great look for her!

Rachel Roy, designer and ex-wife of Damon Dash, looked glam with a slightly bronze eye and bold red lip. Y'all know how I love a red lip!
Drab...
This really pains me because these are two of my absolute favorite people. But...

Model and philanthropist Liya Kebede didn't look so great last night. She has gorge skin, but a little undereye concealer wouldn't have hurt, would it?

Sigh. I don't know what to make of my girl Kerry Washington. She usually looks super stunning, but last night I just wasn't blown away. Next time, Kerr?
Fab or Drab: Apollo Theater 75th Anniversary Gala
Last night some of our brightest stars gathered at Harlem's Apollo Theater for the legendary theater's 75th anniversary celebration.
Nearly everyone brought their beauty A-game, because the ladies looked great! For a little twist, I threw in the fellas, too. Check it out:

Despite nearly being upstaged by her cleavage, Mariah Carey wins the award for most glam of the night. Her soft curls and shimmery makeup were flawless!
Robin Roberts is a fave of mine. Love her cropped curls and bold burgandy lip!

I'm pretty sure Sam Fine's work is all over Ms. Patty's face. Though I am a tad taken aback by those drawn-on brows, the original diva looks fierce as always!

Phylicia Rashaad, my favorite TV mom, looking lovely as always.

The elegant Camille Cosby.
I don't know what happened here! NYC anchor Sade Baderinwa usually looks stunning. I guess her makeup artist was a little heavy-handed with the bronzer...

Hmm. Not sure what to make of this. Victoria Rowell is obviously gorge, but something is off here. She's looks a little pale/washed out...

I am not a fan of Fantasia's new wig. 'Nuff said.

I like Gayle King, but she never experiments with her wig, err, hair. I would love to see her try something new just once!
The Fellas

Had to add this pic. Jamie looked too good not to!

Bill Cosby, everyone's favorite TV dad.

Only Prince can get away with a 2-piece, bell-bottomed, bell-sleeved, pastel yellow suit with matching pumps (yes, I said pumps) and a cane. And lets not forget the sunglasses indoors! Like I said. Only Prince...

Is it just me, or does Quincy Jones never look uncool?
Fab or Drab? MTV Movie Awards
Its that time again! Time for another round of Fab or Drab!
Overall, I was underwhelmed at the celebs style choices at the MTV Movie Awards (maybe they're as over MTV award shows as we are), but then barely anyone showed up. Let's check out the hair and makeup and see who was Fab and who was Drab!
Drab...
Their makeup was decent, but their hair was the downfall of both Mo'Nique Coleman and Lil Mama. Mo'Nique seemed to be going for a sexy Jill Scott/Diana Ross-ish look, but missed the mark due to poor definition, while Lil Mama conjured up the members of Xcape cira '94 with her 'do.
Agree? Disagree?

2009 White House Correspondents Dinner: Fab or Drab?
Everyone's favorite President and First Lady attended the White House Correspondents Dinner over the weekend, and Black glamour was out in full force! Let's see who was Fab, and who was Drab!
Kerry Washington, my favorite of the night, gave a smokey eye and nude-pink lip. One of my fave makeup looks!

Alicia Keys looked naturally glamorous.
And of course, First Lady Michelle Obama looked bronzed and gorgeous. She finished her glam look with super glossy hair, and a ladylike pale-pink manicure (not to mention that sick necklace).

I think Wanda Sykes looked great. Her plum eye makeup and mauve lip gloss really complimented her skintone and gave her a bit more glamour than we usually see from her.

Kissable Couture c0-founder Keisha Whitaker looked effortlessly elegant, wearing one of her own lipglosses, no doubt!
DRAB...

I love Tyra dearly, but the wig with baby hairs is killing me. Plus, she could have done more with her eye makeup, as it made her look a little sickly. I have to go with Drab.

I deeply respect Gwen Ifill's work in the political arena, but everything about this look was drab. She could have benefited from a lip color that was a tad brighter and glossier, and a little foundation and powder to even her skin tone.
Also, matching your lipstick and eyeshadow is generally not a good idea. A neutral shade and some false lashes would have really softened her look, and defined her eyes. Next time, Ms. Ifill!
Rihanna and Tyra at the Met: Fab or Drab?
Rihanna's makeup was flawless, and she debuted a new edgy cut with white streaks.
Was this a fun, sexy take on a punk rock look, or did it resemble a skunk?
Tyra wore a braided bun, but instead of wearing it at the crown of her head or nape of her neck, she decided to go avant garde and place the bun near her forehead.
Did her daring choice pay off?
Tell me, were these ladies Fab or Drab?
